After more than 20 years in the automotive dealer business—and building race cars on the side—Jim Kuntz decided to pursue his lifelong passion for “going fast.” In 1983, he started Jim Kuntz Racing. As the business grew, it became Kuntz & Co.

Jim’s racing career brought championships in NHRA, NMCA, NMRA, NFCA, and Late Model Dirt competition. In 1996, he stepped away from competition racing to focus fully on supporting his customers and friends.

In January 2019, Kuntz & Co. was acquired by Gwatney Performance. It continues to operate as a stand-alone business, doing what it does best: building some of the baddest engines around.
